Was sind kulturpolitische Herausforderungen Zürichs? Was haben die Jugendunruhen von 1980 mit der Kulturförderung von heute zu tun? Als Auftakt einer Reihe von Städteprofilen beschreibt Peter Haerle die Kulturpolitik Zürichs als Balanceakt zwischen Erhalten und Erneuern. Der Einführungstext bietet eine umfassende Übersicht zu den historischen Entwicklungen und zu zentralen Elementen, Prozessen und Strukturen der Kulturpolitik der Stadt Zürich. Mit anschaulichen Beispielen werden u.a. die Möglichkeiten und Grenzen der kulturpolitischen Steuerung aufgezeigt und die Rolle von Public-Private Partnerships im Kulturbereich kritisch beleuchtet.
Kulturpolitik ist ein Schwerpunkt des ZCCE. Wir analysieren und kommentieren Entwicklungen in der nationalen und internationalen Kulturpolitik. Der Text entstand im Auftrag des ZCCE im Rahmen der Vorbereitungen für das geplante Ausbildungsprogramm “Creative Economies in Practice”.

English | Focus on cultural policy: What the City of Zurich is doing differently
What are Zurich’s cultural policy challenges? What do the youth riots of 1980 have to do with today’s model of cultural funding in the city? In the first article in the series of city profiles, Peter Haerle describes Zurich’s cultural policy as a balancing act between preservation and renewal. The introductory text offers a comprehensive overview of historical developments and of central elements, processes, and structures of cultural policy in the city of Zurich. With illustrative examples, the possibilities and limits of cultural policy control are shown and the role of public-private partnerships in the cultural sector is critically examined.
Cultural policy is a focus of ZCCE. We analyze and comment on developments in national and international cultural policy. The text was commissioned by the ZCCE as part of the preparations for a planned educational programme “Creative Economies in Practice”.
